Description
A Swedish bonadsmålning or folk art wall painting rendered in a traditional eighteenth or nineteenth-century style. The narrative scene depicts figures in period dress and horse-drawn carriages, surrounded by stylised floral kurbits patterns. The work is executed in a polychrome palette on a light-coloured substrate. A decorative border contains a line of archaic Swedish text along the left side referencing a bride and girls. The painting is housed in a dark-toned wooden frame under glass.
Condition report:
Toning to the background substrate consistent with age. Minor wear to the edges of the wooden frame.
