French Silver Topped Cased Crystal Decanter with Grape Intaglio
Description
A large antique decanter set, consisting of a square-form body and a matching multifaceted stopper. The decanter is constructed from cased or flashed crystal glass, featuring an amber or orange outer layer over clear crystal. This technique is characteristic of mid-19th century overlaid glass production, often associated with Bohemian manufacture. The decoration utilizes deep wheel-cutting (intaglio) to carve detailed motifs of large grape leaves, tendrils, and bunches of grapes, exposing the clear crystal beneath the colored casing. The neck of the decanter is fitted with a silver or silver-plated collar, consistent with the user-provided keyword emphasis on a French silver topped large decanter.
