Vintage Asian Style Necklace with Carved Jade Pendant and Hardstone Charms
Description
A decorative hanging or necklace constructed of braided, natural-colored fiber cord. The piece features a total of nine carved hardstone elements. The suspension culminates in a single, large, pale yellowish-green translucent stone pendant, carved in the shape of a reclining animal (likely a pig or mythical beast). This stone is identified on the attached paper tag as Chinese jade. Secured beneath the pendant is a heavily frayed fiber tassel. Strung above the main pendant are eight smaller carved hardstone charms, arranged in four pairs. These charms depict small animals (likely birds or small mammals) and display bi-colored hardstone materials, including tones of green, orange/red, dark gray, and yellowish-brown, consistent with materials such as jade, serpentine, and agate.
