A Collection of Five Vintage Mid-20th Century Tin and Wooden Toys
Description
A collection of five mid-20th century lithographed tin and wooden toys. The group includes a Chad Valley tin spinning top decorated with the Hey Diddle Diddle nursery rhyme motif and topped with a red wooden handle. The top features the Chad Valley marking and a Royal Warrant crest. Also present is a green and cream Marks & Spencer promotional tin savings bank modeled as a delivery van, marked “CELEBRATING 125 YEARS” and featuring a coin slot. The collection further includes a round lithographed tin tambourine or drum toy with a dancing figure illustration and decorative pattern, marked “Made in Gt. Brit.”; a segmented wooden elephant toy held together by wooden dowels; and a worn cardboard box for a “MARY LOU tea-set,” labeled “2 CUP SIZE.”
