A 19th Century Cast Iron 'Hercules with Serpent' Umbrella Stand
Description
A figural umbrella stand, crafted from dark-patinated cast iron, depicting a classical-style cherubic or putto-like male figure, partially draped. The figure engages with a large serpent that wraps around him and forms part of the stand’s vertical element. The figure stands on an ornate, circular base incorporating a drip tray, decorated with organic or foliate motifs. A white rectangular sticker with the numbers ‘982.’ and the letter ‘D’ is affixed to the back of the figure’s left shoulder.
