Description
A group of 19th century treen and decorative objects, comprising eleven assorted items primarily crafted from various woods. The collection includes a traditional, dark polished wood tilting oval vanity mirror on a turned stand, with faint, illegible carving or text visible on its upper frame; an inlaid chessboard; a small carved lidded box; a stylized dark wood carved human face or mask; a turned wooden candlestick; a smooth, dark wood carved animal figure, possibly a hippopotamus; a small cylindrical wooden cup; a plain round wooden dish; and a prominent elongated wooden boat shuttle with visible metal tips. Also present is a large, dark metal charger or tray with a scalloped edge and a radiating, possibly lotus leaf, design. In the foreground, a rectangular wooden sample strip is visible, clearly marked “AUSTRALIAN TIMBERS” and featuring inlaid sections identified as “Jarrah,” “Kauri Pine,” and “Oregon.”
