A Collection of Vintage British Children's Illustrated Storybooks, circa 1930s-1950s
Description
A collection of approximately thirteen vintage children’s illustrated storybooks, predominantly in a mid-20th-century cartoon style. The books feature colorful paper or cardboard covers depicting anthropomorphic vehicles, animals, and children. Titles include “Fun With Honk,” “Honk Runs Away,” and “Honk and Tonk” by Joy K. Seddon; “The Twins on Holiday,” “The Twins in London,” and “The Twins at Peep-o-Day Farm” by H.L. Gee; “Mary Mouse and the Noah’s Ark” imagined by Enid Blyton; “Jimmy Goes Sailing” by Neville Main; “Master Bunny the Baker’s Boy” by Molly Brett; and “Sammy the Shunter N°3 Sammy Goes to Sea” and “Sammy the Shunter N°4 Sammy Goes to America.” Several books bear pre-decimalization British price markings of “1/- NET” (one shilling net) or “2/-” (two shillings). One book has a white sticker with the number “8940” written on it.
