Lot 422:
A Group of English Hearthware, including an Early 19th Century Brass Footman Fireplace Trivet, Two Copper Kettles, and a Brass Trivet
Description
This lot comprises four metalware items. The first is an Early 19th Century English Brass Footman Fireplace Trivet Kettle Stool, rectangular in form with an intricate pierced foliate design atop four cabriole legs. Accompanying this are two copper kettles: one a traditional, bulbous form with a fixed arched brass handle and a brass acorn-shaped finial on its lid; the second a horizontally elongated hot water pot or spirit kettle with a swinging brass handle and a distinctive long, tapered spout. The final item is a circular brass trivet featuring a pierced scene depicting blacksmithing tools such as an anvil, bellows, and hammer, clearly inscribed with “THE SMITHS 1767”.
