A Pair of American Folk Art Painted Face Rag Dolls
Description
A pair of American folk art painted face rag dolls, likely mid-20th century or earlier. The doll on the left, depicting a girl, wears a light blue or gray coat with three buttons, a matching skirt, a light-colored scarf, and a blue cap with a pom-pom. It features painted blue eyes, a red mouth, and light yellow yarn hair. The doll on the right, depicting a boy, is clad in a blue and white checkered shirt, blue shorts, a red beret, and a red bow tie, also with painted blue eyes, a red mouth, and light yellow yarn hair. Both dolls have light beige fabric bodies and legs, with darker tan fabric shoes that have a textured, darker toe and heel section. There are no visible manufacturer’s marks or text.
