Vintage German D.R.G.M. Brass Pocket Compass and Inclinometer
Description
A vintage German D.R.G.M. (Deutsches Reichs-Gebrauchsmuster) pocket-style combination compass and inclinometer. The item features a hinged, circular brass or bronze-toned metal case, much of which has lost its original black finish due to wear. A light-colored, woven cord is attached to a suspension ring. When open, the upper dial displays a compass with cardinal and intercardinal points, a 360-degree scale, and a luminous green needle. The lower, yellowish dial includes concentric rings, wavy markings, a 360-degree scale, and a central spirit level. Text “MADE IN GERMANY” is visible on both the lower dial and the reverse of the casing. “D.R.G.M.” and “GES.GESCH.” (Gesetzlich Geschützt) are present on the closed front.
