A Collection of French and Victorian Mother-of-Pearl Boxes and Card Cases
Description
This lot comprises a collection of French and Victorian mother-of-pearl boxes and card cases, alongside various decorative and utilitarian objects. The collection includes a rectangular lidded box with a brickwork pattern, three smaller lidded cases with geometric diamond-patterned inlay, and a rectangular card case featuring a radiating sunburst design. Complementing these are several natural shell forms, including one large and two smaller spoon-like pieces, a small circular dish with a decorative brass-toned handle, a cylindrical yellow lidded container, and two small carved figures (one depicting a man’s head with a hat, the other an organic form). Also present is a brass-capped cork stopper marked “F 62.500” and “757,” and a plain rectangular lidded case of off-white material, possibly ivory or bone. A paper label on the large mother-of-pearl box bears the number “6182.”
