A Bronzed Spelter Figure After Auguste Moreau, Depicting Esmerelda
Description
A bronzed spelter figure after Auguste Moreau, depicting Esmerelda. The standing female figure features long, flowing hair and classical drapery. She raises a disc-shaped object, likely a tambourine or cymbals, in her right hand, while looking down at a small goat or lamb positioned at her left. The bronze exhibits a variegated dark brown and greenish-brown patination. It is mounted on a circular, stepped plinth of variegated reddish-brown marble, accented by a brass or gilt-bronze ring. A small, illegible white sticker is adhered to the marble base.
