Description
A collection of ethnographic objects, prominently featuring a circular, dark hide or shell shield, consistent with a Maasai tribal warrior shield, intricately decorated with etched or painted imagery of a bird and foliage, displaying ties and faint, illegible “De…” text at its base. The collection further comprises a lidded, rectangular-oval woven basket, likely of natural fibers, exhibiting handles and a white label marked “AUCTIONSALE.COM LOT 187.” Also included is a tall bundle of wood or bamboo-shafted arrows or spears with metal points, contained within a hide or bark quiver-like structure secured by natural fiber and leather bindings, bearing a “LOT 171” label. A natural animal horn, possibly a drinking or powder horn, with a fluted rim and a dark stopper, is present. Completing the group is a distinct wooden-shafted spear or arrow with a metal blade, notable for its colorful, geometric beadwork band.
