Description

A Louis XVI style marquetry mahogany dressing cabinet or vanity, dating to the 19th or early 20th century. The piece features an arched superstructure framing an oval mirror, both decorated with floral garlands and ribbon motifs in lighter wood marquetry. The rectangular top surface has a recessed darker panel, possibly leather or faux leather, with a contrasting linear inlay border. Below the top is a single drawer fitted with an ornate brass-toned pull. Beneath the drawer is a cabinet door, similarly decorated with marquetry depicting floral swags within an oval cartouche and featuring a brass-toned knob. The cabinet stands on four slender, tapered legs, terminating in brass-toned sabots. A white sticker displaying the number ‘179’ is affixed to the drawer pull.
