Italian Classical Style Console Table, 1970s
Description
An Italian Classical style console table from the 1970s. This highly decorative table features a rectangular clear glass top with a gracefully curved front edge. It is supported by four ornate, fluted decorative legs or columns, possibly made of a composite material or carved wood, finished in an off-white or cream color with prominent gold-painted accents suggesting rope or banding. These supports rest on a substantial, multi-part base composed of light-colored, possibly rough-hewn stone or a stone-like composite material, which includes a rectangular plinth, a textured central block, and an undulating, sculptural top element. The overall style is eclectic, combining Neoclassical-inspired decorative elements with a more Brutalist or contemporary sculptural base.
