1909 UK Edward VII Gold FULL Sovereign
Description
A UK gold FULL sovereign dated 1909 and struck in 22 carat gold. The obverse features the right-facing bare head portrait of King Edward VII, encircled by the Latin legend EDWARDVS VII D: G: BRITT: OMN: REX F: D: IND: IMP: (photo 3). The small initials De S. are positioned at the truncation of the neck. The reverse displays the St George and the Dragon design above the date 1909, with the initials B.P. visible above the date (photo 1). The coin has a milled edge and no mint mark is visible in the ground line, indicating a London mint striking. An accompanying paper tag is handwritten in blue ink with 22ct Full Sovereign 1909 8 gram (photo 3).
