Description

A gold coin pendant centering a British full sovereign dated 1909. The coin obverse features the right-facing profile portrait of King Edward VII with a partially obscured legend transcribing to EDWARDVS VII D G BRITT OMN REX F D IND IMP. The reverse depicts Saint George and the Dragon with the date 1909 in the exergue. The coin is held within a decorative 9 carat yellow gold mount featuring an openwork scalloped border and a diamond-cut inner bezel. The reverse of the mount has six securing prongs. A tapered suspension bail is attached to the top. The bail bears a set of impressed hallmarks including the fineness mark 375 in a rectangular cartouche. Other adjacent symbols are present but are not clearly legible as specific assay office or date letters.
