An EPIAG Gilt Porcelain Tea and Coffee Service
Description
A Czechoslovakian gilt porcelain tea and coffee service featuring an all-over gold lustre finish and transfer-printed circular reserves depicting romantic courting figures in the Fragonard style. The service comprises a tall lidded pot, a lidded sugar bowl, a cream jug, a group of saucers, and a group of cups. The underside of the pieces bears a printed greenish-grey backstamp featuring the name EPIAG above a pictorial mark of a bent arm holding a sword, with the text MADE IN CZECHOSLOVAKIA below. A separate black stamped number 13 is also present on the base (photo 2). Several items carry white rectangular adhesive labels, including one on the pot marked 22703 A and one on a saucer marked 377 (photo 1).
