Description

A 19th-century yataghan-style sword bayonet with its matching scabbard and a separate small fixed-blade utility knife in a leather sheath. The bayonet features a recurved steel blade with a single longitudinal fuller on each side. The hilt consists of a metal crossguard with a muzzle ring and opposing curled quillons, a checkered grip, and a rounded pommel with a slot for attachment. The scabbard is made of leather with metal throat and chape fittings. The small utility knife has a light-coloured handle and a stitched leather sheath. The bayonet scabbard bears a white adhesive label printed SHELBYS AUCTIONEERS LOT 262 HILLINGDON and a smaller white adhesive label printed 12707. No maker names or other marks are legible on the metal or leather surfaces.
