An Omani-Style Silver-Mounted Jambiya Dagger and Leather Belt with British Indian Coinage
Description
An Omani-style jambiya dagger featuring a curved blade and white metal mounts. The hilt and scabbard are decorated with intricate filigree and repoussé scrollwork throughout. The scabbard is fitted with four large metal rings and a woven metal connector. It is presented on a wide tan leather belt featuring two secondary leather straps. The belt is mounted with three small cylindrical metal containers and two decorative coins. A close-up of the coins identifies them as British Indian currency; the reverse of one coin bears the characters HALF RUPEE INDIA 1893 within a floral border, while the obverse of the adjacent coin bears the characters VICTORIA QUEEN. A white adhesive label is fixed to the lower portion of the scabbard, reading SHELBYS AUCTIONEERS LOT 243 01132502626. A smaller white rectangular adhesive price tag is attached to the hilt, marked 125.50 in handwriting.
