Early 20th Century Stained Oak Commode Armchair
Description
An early 20th-century stained oak commode armchair. The chair features a high back with a shaped top rail containing a central carved floral medallion and scrollwork motifs, supported by four turned spindles between horizontal rails. The curved arms terminate in scrolls and are set on shaped supports. The seat consists of a hinged solid wood panel that opens to reveal an inset white ceramic commode liner. The chair is supported by turned front legs with ring detailing and square-section rear legs, all connected by H-pattern stretchers. Construction includes mortise and tenon joinery and metal hinges for the seat lid.
