Two Victorian Hand-Painted and Named Earthenware Presentation Mugs dated 1836 and 1855
Description
Two mid-19th-century English glazed earthenware mugs of cylindrical form with flared bases and loop handles, characteristic of Staffordshire production. The first mug is decorated in the Gaudy Welsh style with hand-painted floral and foliate motifs in cobalt blue, iron red, and green, featuring a blue band at the rim and the hand-painted inscription Jane Dickinson 1836. The second mug features a hand-painted floral sprig in purple and green, accented with thin lustre bands to the rim and base, inscribed Robt WILSON 1855. No factory marks are visible on the bodies.
