Description

This collection of mid-20th-century English earthenware comprises six items of leaf-moulded and floral decorated tableware. The group features a pale yellow leaf-shaped dish by Carlton Ware in the Apple Blossom pattern, decorated with hand-painted floral sprigs and an embossed leaf texture. Also included is a sauce boat with a matching stand, moulded in a green cabbage-leaf pattern and accented with a hand-painted red strawberry. The collection further contains two green leaf-moulded serving dishes of varying sizes with detailed vein embossing, a small oval dish featuring a bright green moulded border and a central hand-painted floral spray on a white ground, and a basket-form dish with a textured basket-weave exterior, a yellow handle detail, and a large central pink blossom. The Carlton Ware dish bears a black printed mark to the base: Carlton Ware, HANDPAINTED, MADE IN ENGLAND, TRADE MARK, REGISTERED, AUSTRALIAN DESIGN. It also features an impressed four-digit model number 1103 and a small green hand-painted mark. The remaining items are designed in a similar style characteristic of English potteries of the period such as Carlton Ware and Beswick.

Largest dish approximately 28 cm in length.
