A Group of Victorian Bone China Commemorative Mugs
Description
A group of late 19th-century commemorative or presentation mugs of British origin. Each mug is constructed from fine bone china in a cylindrical form with a simple loop handle. The decoration consists of hand-rendered calligraphic script in black ink, surrounded by various hand-painted floral motifs and scrollwork. The rims and handles are finished with gilded highlights. Inscriptions include Beatrice Fielden February 12th 1882, Lydia Brown July 24th 1898 within a multi-coloured floral border, Thompson July 12th 1898, and th Hewitt Oct 2nd 1883. No factory marks are visible on the bases.
