Two Victorian Gilt-Heightened Presentation Jugs, dated 1856 and 1874
Description
Two Victorian earthenware presentation jugs of varying forms. The first is a large octagonal jug, likely ironstone, featuring a faceted body and shell-moulded spout and handle. It is decorated with a hand-painted polychrome floral spray including a pink rose and tulips, with a gilt-heightened inscription reading William Bulger 1856. A small gilt motif consisting of three stylised leaf shapes and dots is present on the neck. The second is a smaller bulbous jug with a shell-moulded rim and a flared, scrolled footed base. It features a gilt-heightened inscription reading Sarah Carr Born June 8th 1874 Bingley. Neither item bears visible factory marks.
