A George V Sterling Silver Pedestal Bowl by Richard Comyns London 1927 413 gram
Description
A George V sterling silver pedestal bowl of circular form featuring a slightly flared rim and a spreading circular foot. The underside of the base bears the maker mark RC for Richard Comyns of William Comyns and Sons Ltd. The London Assay Office hallmarks include the lion passant for sterling silver, the leopard head, and the lowercase Gothic date letter m for 1927. The base is further stamped with the retailer mark W. BATTY and SONS LTD MANCHESTER and the reference number B 1573. A hand-scratched inventory number L 703 is also present. The bowl is designed in the clean, minimalist style associated with the early Art Deco period.
