A Pair of Edwardian Art Nouveau Sterling Silver Mounted Photograph Frames, W J Myatt & Co, Birmingham, 1904
Description
A pair of matching Edwardian sterling silver-mounted photograph frames in portrait orientation. The silver mounts are decorated in the Art Nouveau style featuring repoussé foliate scrollwork, floral motifs, and raised circular bosses at the corners and mid-points. The frames feature a shaped, scalloped outer edge and are mounted onto light-coloured wooden backings, likely oak. Each frame is fitted with a glass plate and has a wooden easel-style support to the reverse. The silver mounts bear the following struck hallmarks: the maker mark W.J.M&Co for W J Myatt & Co, the lion passant indicating .925 sterling silver, the anchor for the Birmingham assay office, and the lowercase date letter e for 1904.
