A 19th Century Oval Portrait Miniature of a Woman
Description
A 19th Century School portrait miniature depicting a mature woman in three-quarter profile. The sitter is portrayed wearing a traditional black dress with a white lace collar and a matching white lace cap. The artwork is executed in watercolour on a support likely consisting of ivory or card. It is housed in an oval gilt-toned metal frame, possibly brass, featuring a suspension loop at the top and a convex glass cover. No signature, date, or maker marks are visible on the front of the piece. A white adhesive label with the handwritten digits 2819 is currently affixed to the glass surface.
