A set of W.H. Grindley earthenware tea wares in The Balmoral pattern. The service features transfer-printed geometric and foliate motifs in a palette of cobalt blue, ochre, and black, finished with gilded rims and accents. The collection includes rounded, footed cups, a stack of matching saucers, a cream jug, an open sugar bowl, and a large handled sandwich plate with a lobed, scalloped edge decorated with blue scrollwork. The base of the pieces bears a rectangular transfer-printed mark featuring a three-masted sailing ship with the text GRINDLEY and ENGLAND, alongside hand-painted blue numerals.
