A Set of Colclough Royale Pattern Bone China Tea Wares
Description
A collection of fine bone china tea wares manufactured by Colclough in the Royale pattern. The set features a British adaptation of the Japanese Imari style, decorated with stylised floral and foliate motifs in a palette of cobalt blue and iron red. The decoration is applied through a combination of transfer-printing and hand-painted enamel, further enhanced with gilded highlights to the rims, handles, and foot rims. The assembly includes several teacups of a flared, footed form with matching saucers and a larger serving plate featuring a lobed edge. Each piece is marked to the underside with a crown symbol above a pink cursive Colclough signature and two vertical tally marks.
