Two Hand-Carved Wooden Animal Figures Including an Egyptian Style Bastet Cat and a Reclining Dog
Description
This lot comprises two hand-carved wooden animal figures with a polished, warm-toned stained finish. The first figure depicts a seated cat in the Ancient Egyptian style, resembling the goddess Bastet. It features incised decorative details including a broad collar and stylised facial features. The second figure is a larger carving of a reclining dog, possibly a dachshund, characterised by a smooth, contoured form and a long body. Both items exhibit natural wood grain patterns. No maker’s marks or signatures are present on either piece. A small adhesive label is visible on the head of the dog figure.
