A Collection of Allertons Ltd Gaudy Welsh Oyster Pattern Earthenware
Description
A collection of earthenware ceramics manufactured by Allertons Ltd of Longton, Stoke-on-Trent, in the Gaudy Welsh Oyster pattern. The decoration consists of hand-painted floral and foliate motifs in underglaze cobalt blue with overglaze iron red and green enamels. The collection includes a large commemorative pitcher inscribed November 2 1851 in iron red script, multiple jugs of varying sizes with scroll handles, a lobed plate, a saucer, and a teacup. One item bears the circular printed backstamp for Allertons England with a central bird motif and the words Made in England, indicating a manufacturing date in the late 19th or early 20th century.
