Description

A collection of eight late 19th or early 20th-century British pharmaceutical apothecary bottles. Each vessel is constructed from moulded green glass featuring vertical ribbing to the body, a tactile safety design intended to signify hazardous contents to the user by touch. The bottles are fitted with faceted glass stoppers, several of which retain paper or twine seals around the neck. Each bottle bears a printed paper label with a red ground and decorative gold-toned border. Transcribed labels include Liniment A.B.C. (Poison), Liq. Morph. Hyd. (Poison), Lin. Terebinth (Poison), Tinct. Lobel: Ae (Poison), Lin. Aconiti (Poison), Extract: Vom:, and Hydramm. These items are characteristic of the UK Pharmacy Acts of the late Victorian and Edwardian periods.
Height: approximately 14 cm – 15 cm.
