Description
This is an original oil on board painting by the artist Joan Madge, whose signature is visible in black script in the lower right corner. The composition features a coastal harbour scene dominated by a large two-masted vessel moored in the foreground, with its dark reflection cast upon the water. The background depicts a collection of harbour buildings situated at the foot of a hillside. The work is rendered in an expressive modernist style, characterised by energetic, visible brushwork and bold black linear definitions.
