A Collection of Royal Antediluvian Order of Buffaloes Silver and Enamel Jewels
Description
A collection of fraternal jewellery associated with the Royal Antediluvian Order of Buffaloes (RAOB), dating from the early 20th century. The collection includes a silver Roll of Honour (ROH) star jewel featuring a blue enamel ring inscribed Palma Non Sine Pulvere and a central RAOB monogram. This jewel is suspended from a light blue ribbon with three silver service bars dated 23-11-21, 30-1-23, and 15-4-24, topped with a Roll of Honour suspension bar.
The collection also features a cased President’s jewel in silver with gilt and enamel finishes. The jewel is designed as a Maltese cross with a central blue enamel globe and RAOB monogram, housed in its original blue velvet and silk-lined presentation case. The case interior bears the mark of Simpson’s Masonic and Buffalo Jewellers, 66 & 67 York Road, King’s Cross, London.
Additionally, the group contains an Examining Council President’s jewel in silver and enamel, featuring a central triangle inscribed with the tenets Truth, Justice, and Philanthropy, suspended from a red and blue ribbon marked RAOB and ROH. Completing the collection is a Knights Chapter President’s jewel in silver and enamel under the Grand Lodge of England (G.L.E.) jurisdiction, featuring a buffalo head motif. The jewels are accompanied by three leatherette protective pouches.
