A Collection of Nine Royal Antediluvian Order of Buffaloes Silver Gilt and Enamel Jewels
Description
A collection of nine fraternal jewels and medals pertaining to the Royal Antediluvian Order of Buffaloes (RAOB), specifically associated with the Grand Lodge of England (G.L.E.). The group includes various ranks and office-specific regalia, primarily constructed from silver gilt, silver-toned base metals, and polychrome enamel. Featured items include a Deputy Provincial Grand Primo jewel suspended from a bi-colour red and blue ribbon with a green enamel RAOB bar and a large green and white enamel lozenge-shaped pendant. Also included is a Treasurer jewel featuring a gilt lyre-shaped frame surmounted by a crown with a blue enamel central shield, and a Roll of Honour jewel mounted on a pale blue ribbon with a sunburst pendant. Two Maltese cross lodge jewels are present, both featuring blue enamel borders inscribed with the Order’s full title and the Latin motto Nemo Mortalium Omnibus Horis Sapit (No mortal man is wise at all times) around a central buffalo head. The remaining four breast jewels feature various silk ribbons in pink, light blue, and red, with RAOB and GLE monograms and dated suspension bars, including one marked 23-2-23.
