Description
A framed collection of fraternal regalia and commemorative jewels associated with the Royal Antediluvian Order of Buffaloes (RAOB), dating from the mid-to-late 20th Century. The assortment includes various breast jewels, collar badges, and medals representing different ranks, offices, and lodges within the order, primarily under the Grand Lodge of England (G.L.E.) jurisdiction. The pieces are constructed from gilt and silver-toned base metals, many featuring vitreous enamel work in various colours and suspended from silk or synthetic ribbons. Notable items include two Southport and District Diamond Jubilee jewels (1983), a Malta Province jewel with a Maltese cross, a Queen Elizabeth II Silver Jubilee commemorative medal (1952-1977), and a Scarborough Convention jewel (1979). Office-specific bars include those for Primo, Waiter, and Secretary. Lodge-specific insignia are present for White Rose Lodge No. 10314, Volunteer Lodge No. 10200, and Honesty Lodge. The collection is presented on a red velvet-effect mount within a glazed wooden frame with gilt-effect detailing.
