Late Victorian Stripped Pine Dressing Chest with Swing Mirror
Description
A late Victorian or Edwardian dressing chest of provincial design, constructed from solid pine with a stripped and waxed finish. The chest base is configured with two short drawers over two long drawers, each featuring turned wooden knobs and simple circular keyholes. The top is fitted with a low, shaped gallery backboard and supports a rectangular swing mirror. The mirror is held between two turned uprights terminating in decorative finials. The piece exhibits characteristic features of British cottage furniture from the late 19th to early 20th century. No maker marks, stamps, or labels are present.
