A Pair of Large Continental Bisque Porcelain Figurines
Description
A pair of large hand-painted bisque porcelain figurines in the Continental style, likely of German origin, depicting a male and female figure in 18th-century Rococo attire. The male figure is modelled wearing a tricorn hat, a ruffled shirt with a green sash, a patterned frock coat, and breeches. The female figure wears an elaborate wide-brimmed hat with a pink bow and a voluminous gown featuring ruffled layers and floral motifs. Both figures are decorated in a palette of peach, pale green, pink, and cream, with hand-painted details, gilded accents, and raised white moriage-style dot work. The unglazed undersides of the bases feature small, illegible impressed marks and circular firing holes.
Height: 36 cm.
