A pair of original ornithological studies by R. Stancey, executed in watercolours with gouache highlights on paper. One work depicts a swallow in flight and the other a capercaillie. The compositions feature detailed brushwork to define the plumage against neutral backgrounds. The swallow study is signed R. STANCEY and titled THE SWALLOW vertically on the right margin. The capercaillie study is titled CAPERCAILLIE vertically on the right margin. Both works are housed in matching dark-stained wood frames with olive-green mounts and white inner borders under glass.
