Lot 12:
A Set of 1940s Duncan Phyfe Style Mahogany Dining Furniture
Description
This mahogany dining suite is designed in the 1940s Duncan Phyfe style, incorporating George III Hepplewhite revival elements. The suite consists of an extending oval dining table and a set of chairs. The table features an oval top with a reeded edge and a central extension leaf, supported by square tapering reeded legs headed by carved rosette paterae. The chairs are designed with shield-shaped backs containing pierced wheatsheaf-form splats, standing on square tapering legs joined by H-stretchers. The drop-in seats are upholstered in a blue fabric. No maker’s marks, labels, or stamps are visible on the surfaces. The construction is consistent with mid-20th-century furniture manufacture.
