Mixed Lot of Vintage and Antique Dolls, including Effanbee, Composition and Bisque, Various Sizes
Description
This varied job lot comprises an assortment of 20th-century dolls and restoration components. The collection includes a modern bisque porcelain collector doll featuring a synthetic blonde wig styled in ringlets, fixed blue glass eyes with applied lashes, and an original peach-toned lace and satin dress. The vintage selection features several composition baby dolls, including a small figure with painted features and a larger baby doll wearing a white lace christening gown and a pink knit bonnet with sleep eyes. A notable inclusion is a large composition baby doll head with an open mouth showing two lower teeth and sleep eyes, accompanied by a detached composition arm. The lot also contains a headless stuffed cloth torso with composition arms, featuring a triangular maker’s mark on the upper chest attributed to Effanbee. Completing the set is a stylized fashion doll head with moulded black hair and a pair of detached composition or plastic legs with moulded silver high-heeled shoes. Various heights up to 14 inches.
Condition report:
Items are in mixed condition and sold as seen for restoration. The modern bisque doll is in good condition with no visible damage to the porcelain. The vintage composition elements show significant signs of age, including heavy crazing, paint loss, and surface cracking, most notably on the large head and the small seated baby. The cloth torso is heavily soiled and missing its head. The sleep eye mechanism on the large head is loose. Textiles across the lot exhibit yellowing, staining, and wear. Some components are detached from their original bodies.
