Assorted Collection of Vintage-Style Porcelain and Composite Dolls, Late 20th Century
Description
This lot consists of five dolls of various sizes and styles, accompanied by vintage-inspired toys. The collection includes a doll with a porcelain-style head, blue glass eyes, and blonde curls, wearing a blue satin-finish dress with white lace trim and a matching bonnet. Two dolls are dressed in white knit one-piece undergarments, including one larger doll and a smaller companion. A baby doll with a moulded bald head and large blue eyes is wearing a grey and white cotton romper. A fifth doll is partially obscured by protective plastic packaging. These pieces are typical of the late 20th-century collector doll market, which sought to replicate the aesthetic of early 20th-century German and French bisque dolls. Also visible in the background are a vintage-style tin-litho robot and a decorative spinning top with colourful printed illustrations. A small modern adhesive inventory tag is attached to the arm of the central doll with the handwritten notation 6182.
Condition report:
The items are in as-found condition. The heads and limbs appear free of visible cracks or chips. The wigs on the blonde dolls show some matting and flyaway strands. Clothing exhibits minor wrinkling and surface dust. The items are currently housed in a wooden display case and show an accumulation of surface dust.
