Assorted Antique and Vintage Dolls and Parts, Spares and Repairs Doll, 2-12in
Description
A diverse collection of antique and vintage dolls and components, primarily intended for restoration. The lot includes various bisque and porcelain socket heads, notably a large character baby head with an open mouth and teeth, alongside detached limbs. Also present are composition heads, including a large character baby and several international folk dolls in traditional attire such as Scottish and Alpine styles. The collection features two Grodnertal-style carved and painted wooden peg dolls, one full-bodied with articulated limbs and one bust. A mid-century standing doll with a fabric-covered body and vinyl or hard plastic head is included. Eye mechanisms vary from weighted glass sleep eyes to fixed glass and painted eyes. Hair types include mohair, synthetic, painted, and moulded examples. One small doll is dressed in an ornate white satin and lace gown with a matching bonnet. Materials are classified as spares and repairs doll. Height 2-12in.
Condition report:
Overall condition is fair to poor and fragmentary. Bisque items are generally intact but show surface grime. Composition items exhibit significant age-related wear, including heavy crazing, cracking, and peeling of the painted finish, particularly on the large central baby head. Wooden items show paint loss and wear to the joints. The lot contains numerous detached heads, torsos, and limbs in as-found condition with no obvious modern repairs.
