Lot 369:
A Mixed Collection of Decorative Porcelain and Ceramic Objects Including a Large Classical Relief Plaque
Description
A varied assortment of decorative porcelain and ceramic wares, primarily 20th-century in origin. The lot is centred by a large white porcelain circular plaque featuring a classical scene in high relief, depicting mythological figures in a woodland setting. Accompanying this are several decorative eggs, including a hand-painted example with a hinged gilt-metal mount and others featuring floral and scenic motifs. The collection further comprises multiple ceramic trinket boxes decorated with polychrome floral sprays, various small porcelain figurines in the Victorian taste, a miniature cabinet plate with a romantic scene, and a single rectangular clear pressed glass vessel. The items exhibit a range of techniques including slip-casting, hand-painting, and overglaze enamelling. Dimensions variable.
Condition report:
The items are presented loose in a storage carton and show an accumulation of surface dust and light grime. There is minor rubbing to the hand-painted decoration and gilt highlights on several pieces. While no significant structural damage is immediately apparent to the larger items, small losses to the delicate extremities of the figurines may be present due to the nature of the storage. General wear is consistent with age and handling.
