Description
A comprehensive mixed lot of ceramic and porcelain decorative objects and tableware, primarily of British manufacture. The collection includes a large white glazed earthenware pitcher of simple ovoid form; an Art Deco period lidded jar featuring green-rimmed decoration in the style of Crown Ducal; and a decorative lidded pot with floral transfer-printing and a figural bird finial. Also present are various cabinet plates and saucers decorated with hand-painted floral sprays, gilded borders, and Chinoiserie-style transfer patterns, including examples reminiscent of Maling Maltese patterns. The lot further comprises assorted teaware, a porcelain pig-form money bank, a blue and white glazed cat figurine, and a nursery ware mug. Techniques include moulding, transfer-printing, and hand-applied gilding. Largest item pitcher approximately 22cm in height. Lot contained within a plastic crate measuring approximately 60cm x 40cm.
Condition report:
Overall condition is varied and consistent with age and domestic use. Visible surface wear, minor abrasions, and scratches throughout, particularly to the stacked plates. Some rubbing to the gilded rims and transfer decorations. Crazing is evident on several of the earthenware pieces. Potential buyers are advised to inspect for minor nicks or hairline cracks inherent to large mixed lots.
