Unmarked Two-Tone and Bristol Glaze Stoneware Shoulder Jug and Barrel Cooler
Description
A pair of antique stoneware vessels comprising a traditional cylindrical shoulder jug and a barrel-form beverage cooler. The shoulder jug features a classic two-tone finish with a brown slip-glazed shoulder and handle over a cream-coloured Bristol-glazed body. The barrel-form cooler is finished in a uniform cream Bristol glaze and is decorated with moulded horizontal bands to simulate barrel hoops, featuring a large top opening and a circular spigot hole near the base. Neither piece shows visible maker’s marks or capacity stamps. Jug height approximately 10–11 inches; barrel cooler length approximately 9–10 inches.
Condition report:
Both pieces are in good antique condition. The jug shows minor surface wear and small glaze imperfections consistent with age and utilitarian use, with no large chips or cracks visible. The barrel cooler appears well-preserved with an intact spigot opening and no significant cracks, chips, or staining.
