Lot 347:
A Collection of Royal Doulton Series Ware and English Ceramics including a Wedgwood Architectural Bank Category: Ceramics
Description
A diverse assortment of English glazed earthenware and porcelain, featuring two Royal Doulton Series Ware chargers decorated in polychrome enamels with a central figure of a falconer within a stylised foliate border. The collection includes a large shallow earthenware bowl with a pale yellow glaze and hand-painted geometric diamond motifs, and a white bowl with a moulded foliate rim. Teaware elements comprise floral-decorated bone china cups, saucers, and a small creamer, alongside a cabinet plate with a central floral spray and a cream-coloured ribbed border. A notable inclusion is a heavily textured brown architectural-form vessel or bank, identified as a Wedgwood piece, featuring a variegated slip glaze. The lot is completed by a small polychrome floral-encrusted decorative ornament. Decorations throughout the collection exhibit a combination of hand-painted details and transfer-printed designs. Chargers approximately 26cm diameter; yellow bowl approximately 32cm diameter.
Condition report:
The collection shows signs of wear consistent with age and domestic use. There are minor surface scuffs and light crazing visible on the earthenware glazes. The floral-encrusted ornament may have small, typical losses to the delicate petals. No significant chips or cracks are immediately apparent on the primary Royal Doulton chargers.
