A Collection of Mason's Ironstone Mandalay Pattern Tableware Category: Ceramics
Description
A five-piece collection of Mason’s “Mandalay” pattern ironstone, manufactured in England. The assembly comprises a large rectangular serving platter, a shaped rectangular dish, a lidded ginger jar, a milk jug, and an open circular vessel. Each piece is decorated in a vibrant Imari-inspired palette featuring cobalt blue, iron red, and pink floral and foliate motifs set against a cream ground. The items are finished with gilded scalloped rims and hand-painted accents. The underside of the shaped dish bears the brown Mason’s crown mark, “MASON’S (R) IRONSTONE MADE IN ENGLAND Mandalay (C) PRINTED AND HAND PAINTED”. Platter: approximately 32cm x 25cm. Ginger jar: approximately 18cm height.
Condition report:
The collection is presented in good overall condition, showing no visible chips, cracks, or evidence of restoration. There is minor surface wear and light rubbing to the gilding on the rims, consistent with age and occasional use.
