A Collection of Nine Assorted Decorative Trinket Boxes and Tea Caddies, 19th and 20th Century
Description
This eclectic assortment comprises nine decorative boxes of varying materials, origins, and designs. The collection includes a small square box featuring mother-of-pearl veneers; a larger rectangular wooden box with rounded corners and a metal latch; a wooden card box with inlaid suit symbols; an octagonal wooden box with a printed scenic lid; and a square wooden box with bookmatched grain patterns. Also included are a small domed trunk with yellow-toned panels and metal trim; a black box with silver-tone floral filigree overlays; a wooden box with a carved figural scene; and a rectangular box featuring intricate geometric bone or wood inlay in a traditional Middle Eastern or Indian style. These pieces represent a variety of craft techniques including marquetry, inlay, and lacquerwork. Dimensions: Largest box approximately 20cm x 15cm; smallest box approximately 5cm x 5cm.
Condition report:
The items are in varied vintage condition and do need some restoration. Visible wear includes surface scratches, scuffs, and minor finish loss consistent with age. Some pieces show more significant degradation to the veneers and decorative overlays, necessitating professional attention to return them to their former lustre.
